Born December 6th, 1922, in the village of Schlitters in the Ziller Valley, Professor Albin Moroder comes from an artistic family renowned far beyond the borders of Tyrol.
For the Moroders, the sculpting profession has been virtually a family tradition for four generations. Prof. Albin Moroder's grandfather, Josef Theodor Moroder, know as the "LUSENBERGER", was initially a sculptor, but later turned to painting. His pictures of rural life are sought-after collectors' pieces, garnering substantial prices at auction. Albin's father, OTTO MORODER, was himself a gifted sculptor and master teacher. Many critics referred to him as the "EGGER LIENZ" of artistic woodcarving.
